Scarborough Air Cadets is just one small part of an otherwise larger organisation which is structured in a similar way to the Royal Air Force.
Royal Air Force Cranwell
The Air Cadets is headed by a senior RAF officer holding the rank of Air Commodore. He is known as the Commandant Air Cadets and is the only full-time serving RAF officer in the organisation. Based at RAF Cranwell, he is assisted by a small but dedicated team of paid staff and volunteers who help steer the organisation at the national level.
North Region
Royal Air Force Leeming
Six regions make up the Air Cadets. Scarborough Air Cadets falls under North Region which is commanded by a Royal Air Force Reserves officer holding the rank of Group Captain. He is assisted by one or two paid staff and a host of other volunteers who specialise in delivering activities to cadets in their region.
Central & East Yorkshire Wing
Royal Air Force Leeming
A wing is made up of several squadrons covering at least one or two different counties. Around six wings make up a region. Scarborough Air Cadets falls under Central & East Yorkshire Wing which is commanded by a volunteer officer holding the rank of Wing Commander. He is assisted by two paid members of staff who look after the day-to-day administration and a number of volunteer staff who organise the activities for the cadets in the wing.
